A Liposuction Result is Much more than an Improvement in Aesthetics

Liposuction as per the definitions quoted in medical contexts is the removal of fat (which has been accumulated beneath the skin) with the help of a cannula (hollow stainless steel tube) and a strong vacuum. This procedure is usually recommended for those people who are conscious about their physical appearance so much that looking un-presentable interferes with their self-esteem and capacity of being productive, and people who cannot loose the fat in certain parts of the body and would prefer to do so.

Since the procedure is easy to do, involves less expenses than other cosmetic procedures, and it is relatively one the safest methods, liposuction is one of the most common cosmetic surgeries performed.

Is the Liposuction Result always what we perceive it to be?

There are so many advertisements in the papers and TV and other media vehicles that these actually raise the hopes for miracle results in many people’s minds. It is true that the liposuction result will indeed make your appearance better than it was prior to the procedure. However, it will not transform you into a prince or princess. For those who understand the limitations (and many times it is possible for the doctors to show a computerized ‘before’ and ‘after’ picture so as to ready the person of what to expect) the liposuction result is quite good.

The best liposuction result will be of course in the people who are healthy and who have generally healthy and elastic skin. It was observed that the skin of people who are fat and overweight for a long time, looses its elasticity to a large extent and hence the liposuction result in this case might not be the best possible one.

Liposuction result – the risk and aftermath

Liposuction is usually a very safe procedure which involves the least amount of risk among all the cosmetic surgeries. However, in order to get the best results with the least side-effects, one has to be careful to complete all the pre-procedure formalities. For this, the person would need to complete all the requisite examinations regarding their blood clotting, immune system and other aspects which would have impact on the liposuction result; they would also have to inform the doctor about all the health issues that they had experienced in the past so the risks can be minimized.

Some of the most common complications from liposuction are scarring, return of fat too soon, lumpiness, etc. However, these can be avoided if you follow the pre and post instructions carefully.
