Ultrasonic assisted liposuction, also called ultrasonic liposuction, has become less popular by surgeons in the United States have are aware of the risks and complications. Most experienced plastic surgeons consider it less safe than other forms of liposuction procedures.

Ultrasonic liposuction has been related to blood clotting, peripheral nerve damage, and a build up of infected fluid. The Risks

In addition to bruising, scarring, and fluid retention, other risks can also be involved in ultrasonic liposuction. Even a very qualified plastic surgeon can run into complications and difficulties—it is very important that your doctor has admitting and treatment privileges at a hospital you are close to and familiar with. Some doctors have the privilege of admitting patients, but cannot treat them in that (or another) hospital. Some ultrasonic liposuction complications can occur even after the surgery has been performed. While the procedure itself may not cause tremendous scarring, the patient may end up with baggy or rippled skin, or brown spots caused by pigmentation changes.
